True Presence
Project Details
Challenge
This project's challenge was encapsulating the complex nature of human struggles beneath a facade of power. What if we could peek beneath this veneer of perfection? Would we find a flawless individual or someone retreating from their reality, burdened by similar tribulations that beset us all?
GOAL
I aimed to question and disrupt the perception of infallibility associated with powerful individuals. The goal was to demonstrate that vulnerabilities exist beneath the outward display of authority and control, proving that human frailties persist irrespective of social standing.
Result
"True Presence" successfully uncovers the intricate play of appearances and realities. Through its spectral portrayal of the central figure, the painting subtly hints at a presence that's simultaneously there and not, eloquently representing the often-hidden personal struggles of those in power. The piece was recognized as one of the top five among 2,000 entries in the "Retreated from Reality" competition by the CCC Strozzina Museum in Florence, Italy.
